News - Boots and Black Tie Ball - Astor's Beechwood - June 29th 2001

The Westchester Polo Club celebrated its 125th Anniversary as the oldest and founding polo club in America at the Astor's Beechwood Mansion, Newport, RI. The Astors mansion was chosen as John Jacob Astor was one of the early members of the Westchester Club. The Polo Museum and Hall of Fame were kind enough to travel all the way from Florida to mount a display of historical material and to display the actual Westchester Cup first offered by the Westchester Club for International competiton between the US and England. The finals of the weeklong 125th anniversary tournament are to be held Sat 30th June and the grounds of the Newport Polo Club.
